Gevers strengthens its leadership position with the acquisition of patent firm Pecher & Partners
Gevers, a leading company in intellectual property (IP) services, today announces the acquisition of Pecher & Partners, a specialized Belgian patent attorney firm. This strategic move reinforces Gevers’ patent expertise, regional presence, and overall leadership position in Belgium, while staying true to their strategy of growth through quality and expertise.
Following the acquisition, Pecher & Partners will be fully integrated into Gevers in the following months. The firm’s team - including its two experienced European Patent Attorneys, Marco Connor and Thierry Debled, as well as their paralegals - will join Gevers Louvain-la-Neuve office, which will soon relocate to larger premises to accommodate its expanding team.
Expanding expertise and regional presence
“Pecher & Partners brings deep technical knowledge in the field of patents, as well as a remarkable client base,” explains Samuel Denis, Co-Head of Patents at Gevers, who led the acquisition. “Adding Marco Connor and Thierry Debled to our patent team broadens both our technical scope and our strategic advisory capacity. Their expertise and professionalism are fully aligned with our quality standards and allow us to provide an even broader and more specialized service to our clients, both in Belgium and internationally.”
Founded by Marco Connor and Nicolas Pecher in 2015, the firm has built a strong reputation in the French-speaking region of Belgium, serving innovative companies and research institutions. The merger not only consolidates Gevers leadership in the Belgian IP market but also reinforces its presence in Louvain-la-Neuve, home to universities, research centers and high-tech companies.
Shared ambition and client benefit
“The management of Pecher & Partners is thrilled to embark on this ambitious project,” state Marco Connor and Thierry Debled. “By joining forces with Gevers, we see an exceptional opportunity to create even more value for our clients through the powerful combination of our complementary expertise.”
For existing Pecher & Partners clients, this means seamless access to Gevers’ full suite of IP services — from patent, trademark and design protection to strategic legal advice and litigation.
“They will benefit from a one-stop partner offering global IP expertise,” adds Samuel Denis. “Together, we can support more complex cases and provide a truly integrated, forward-looking IP strategy.”
A step forward in Gevers’ growth strategy
This acquisition is part of Gevers’ broader strategic plan initiated in 2023, which aims to attract new talents, enhance efficiency, and strengthen its European footprint through mergers and acquisitions.
“With more than 125 years of experience, Gevers continues to challenge itself and to grow, based on expertise and not merely on scale,” concludes Samuel Denis. “Our ambition is clear: to empower innovation and to deliver excellence in intellectual property. The integration of Pecher & Partners is a powerful step in that direction — a case where one plus one truly makes more than two.”
