Research Scientist (Chemical Biology)
Orionis Biosciences is a pioneering biotech company focused on revolutionizing cancer treatment through cutting-edge innovation. Guided by a technology-driven vision, we integrate small molecule screening platforms with proprietary protein technology systems to develop next-generation medicines. Founded in 2015, we’ve grown rapidly, with offices and research hubs in both Ghent (Belgium) and Boston (USA). Your primary focus will be on downstream hit validation using biochemical, biophysical, and functional assays. You will work closely with the Chemical Biology team to design, optimize, and troubleshoot these experiments while advancing our drug discovery efforts.
Your profile:
To excel in this role, we’re looking for someone who brings the following experience and skills:
- A PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline.
- A strong hands-on experience in, and understanding of, designing, developing and troubleshooting protein-protein and small-molecule protein interaction assays.
- Relevant experience in small molecule hit discovery campaigns.
- Proficient in a wide range of biochemical and/or biophysical assay technologies (e.g., HTRF, NanoBRET, Lumit, AlphaScreen, etc.).
- Experience working with CRO’s on protein production, biophysical assays, and related activities is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferably, you also have a good knowledge of Dutch.
- A highly collaborative and organized way of working.
- Detail-oriented, efficient and able to thrive under time-sensitive conditions.
- A proactive mindset, self-motivated, enthusiastic and a genuine passion for innovation.
